  D-Day V-Day...
Alright, so this is the second V-Day that Rachel and I have been together. This is also the second V-Day I have had to work since we have been together. That kind of makes me a crappy fiance.

Over the weekend, we ate a nice meal at Applebee's Friday, and then had a "Sweetheart" dinner at our church that the youth hosted. All in all it was a good dinner, with exempliary service. Afterwards we went to my parents house and chatted until late. Sunday was lazy day as usual. Nothing much accomplished except the whole working out thing. I've noticed that I feel much better than usual and can actually see some muscles starting to poke out again.

We went to Wal-Mart last night to look at MP3 players and saw the massive showing of boyfriends buying stuff for their significant others. Way to go guys, waiting until the last minute. Rachel felt bad for the guys having to walk around with fluffy bears, pink cards and flowers. She feels that V-Day is simply to shame boyfriends into appreciating their counterpart. I tend to agree with her a bit. As guys we often don't realize how essential our counterparts are. We take them for granted 364 days a year, and bitch about the one day that we are supposed to show our appreciation. It's time for us guys to suck it up. These women do a lot of things for us, ranging from small tasks to much larger projects. They think out their gifts to us and we run into the store at the last minute to get whatever is left. I see all kinds of guys getting angry when a T.V. show portrays men buying birthday presents from gas stations for their wives. New's flash, if it weren't for automatic reminders in email and on your phones, you probably would be reduced to purchasing a pez dispenser and a lifetime supply of beef jerky for her birthday. I only say this because I am one of you. Today I wasn't planning on sending Rachel anything for V-Day because I thought she was working in Benton. I don't know of any reputable florists in Benton, so I thought I would get her something later on. Plus hey, I bought dinner Friday night and last night. Well about noon today, my conscience got the better of me. I talked to her at lunch and found out she was working in Murray today. I had to call in the troops because I am locked in to campus after noon. I don't get off this godforsaken tundra until midnight.

I phoned the ever reliable businessman, and sickening romantic...my father. He was in Jackson for the day, but would be back around 3. He made a few calls, got some flowers and personally delivered them to her at work. First of all I must say mad props to my pops for saving my arse there, and secondly I must take all the blame for this. I should have already known where she was working and had a solid plan of action. I am a terrible fiance. I admit it. There is no excuse for my behavior. So as a result I will make a worldwide apology to Rachel and tell her in front of all of you that I am very sorry, and I love you more than anything in my life.

On a much lighter note, I have recently started the Bible Run. My ever productive cousin has put together an online community of people that are dedicated to reading the bible in one year. We have assignments and forums to discuss the readings daily. I am already enjoying this and want to encourage any person who might be interested to join up. We'll be taking newcomers at any time during the run.

Comments:
I was totally not expecting flowers from you and it was so sweet to see your dad walking in with them this afternoon! Everyone at the bank was incredibly jealous. You are not a terrible fiance. I love you!
