Rantings and all such tomfoolery

  First day of class...
Alright, so the day started out with CSC 232 and the information that my teacher is a weirdo. Not essential or very threatening, but good to know none-the-less. Then I had lunch with the guys where they informed me that my CIS 304 teacher is a hard ass and loves nothing more than to bask in the tears of his failing students. After sitting through my first day of classes I must say I don't really know what these guys are talking about. The guy didn't seem like too much of a hard ass, and all in all I am looking forward to the semester. I may be eating my words at the end of the semester, but we'll see. Either way this should be an entertaining time of my life.

On a completely unrelated note it is snowing in Murray. Nothing significant or even road threatening, but a drastic change in the temperatures of recent. This constand fluctuation in the weather tires me. It's supposed to be sunny and 50 tomorrow. WTF Mate? This has lead me to a great realization. I am going to design a University that is compeletly covered by a Bio-Dome. Eco friendly campus that has a constant temperature of 74 degrees. Artificial sunlight, constant greenery etc. These conditions would be constantly in place creating an optimal learning environment for students. From building to building you could have encapsulated walkways(also weather proofed), but always an exit. It allows you to escape from the petri dish environment any time you want. All this was formulated on my walk from the business building to Curris Center then back to Waterfield. I walked for ten minutes in a northern direction with the wind in my face, then five minutes south. Wind still in my face. It seems that no matter what direction you walk on campus there is always a head wind.

Which brings me to my second rant. Murray State's Bookstore is screwing every student at every chance they get. Horror stories aside, the bookstore mainly makes its profits off of textbooks. These textbooks are sold most likely at face value. Then they are sold back at pennies on the dollar where they are then resold at maybe a 10% discount for being used. This goes on for I dont' know how many semesters. Now being a publicly funded university I would think their goal was to break even, not extort money out of hard working students. I can go to Bradley bookstore and purchase these textbooks cheaper. How can that be? These universities are the ones making the deals with the companies. Shouldn't they be getting textbooks cheaper? Maybe they are, but they are inflating the prices just to create a higher profit margin. Enough of this ranting. My blood pressure is rising, and I am sure that Harry Lee Waterfield Library does not want a dead non-trad on their floor.

Peace out, and fight the power!
Damn tha man!
